Thailand Trip Unfiltered 2025 – Day 8 & Day 9 | Chiang Mai Adventures Continue

Welcome back to another episode of our Thailand Trip Unfiltered 2025!
Today brings a mix of slow travel, pure relaxation, epic scenery, and a very real moment of “we were so close… but nope.”

DAY 8 – A Slow, Relaxing Chiang Mai Day
With our legs screaming for mercy, the four of us — Jon, Tracie, Terry and Tracy — spent the day wandering one of Chiang Mai’s biggest shopping centres: The Maya Lifestyle Centre.

Six massive floors filled with shops, cafés, restaurants, and endless people-watching opportunities. Huge doesn’t even cover it! After exploring the maze, Jon and I headed off for yet another Thai massage — because when in Chiang Mai, massages are a lifestyle.
This one definitely bordered on torture… but the good kind that resets your body and leaves you feeling brand new.

DAY 9 – Exploring the Highlands with Our Favourite Driver
We teamed up again with our amazing driver YongYoot from ChiangMai Easy Drive & Transportation, who took us on a gorgeous highlands day trip.

Our first big stop was Doi Inthanon National Park, home to Thailand’s highest peak. Here stand the stunning Twin Royal Pagodas — one honouring King Bhumibol and the other Queen Sirikit.
These pagodas sit high on the mountain surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and sweeping valley views. They’re peaceful, majestic, and absolutely iconic.

Next, we visited a hilltribe village where the locals brew their own fresh coffee. Jon, Tracy and Terry, all gave it a try — their reactions are priceless!

Then came Wachirathan Waterfall, and honestly… it’s beyond words. Powerful, misty, magical — Mother Nature at her dramatic best.

Our final stop was Mae Ya Waterfall. We walked a fair bit of the trail, got within 200 metres of reaching the actual waterfall… and that’s when the heat, fatigue and the day caught up with us. So near yet so far — and we all tapped out!
Sometimes calling it quits is the perfect end to an already amazing day.
