A final video about the Mamiya 645 shutter problem the affects so many cameras. In this video we look at the Solenoid that controls the secondary shutter curtain and Mirror down function.
Just to add the likely process for triggering the solenoid is a pulse of some kind will arrive at the transistor that will act as a switch that connects the fully charged capacitor to the solenoid to energise it. The Diode will be protection from reverse voltage when the electromagnetic field collapses in the solenoid. If the capacitor is faulty it may not be able to store enough charge to activate the solenoid.
