This year I decided I'm not going to make videos of me reacting to my meets, but instead I will explain and talk about how it went in the description! So starting off, this was my gym's first ever time doing a high school meet. It was an amazing experience and I would totally do it again! We did have some issues though with starting scores that affected my scores a bit. Basically the highest score you can get would be called a starting score, and in a high school meet it's a 10. If you compete all the required skills in your level, your starting score will remain a ten, but if you don't, it'll be lowered. Since I was going to vault with a trampoline, ahead of time we knew my starting score would be dropped to a 9.5. For everything else, it was supposed to be a 10. However, it turned out on bars we weren't allowed to twist in our bar dismounts, so that starting score got dropped to a 9.5, as well for some reason my beam starting score was lowered to a 9.4. I do believe that I might've possibly placed more and higher if that didn't happen, but again, it was everyone's first time and I just have to accept it! I placed in one event, and got a choreography award (both mentioned in the video) so I had a great meet! On beam I did fall on my backwalkover. It sounds kind of like an excuse, but mid walkover I told myself it was a warmup and I just got confused and fell. It's too bad, but there is nothing I can do to fix it now because it's in the past. But it all turned out in the end! I also want to mention that on my score card the beam judge wrote down that I had the best jumps she had seen the whole session lol. These are my thought on the competiton! Thank you so much for your support, next comp is in a month!!!
