Hare Krishna 🙏 and welcome to Manjusha’s Mystic Marvels!
Today, I’m sharing a crunchy and flavorful satvik snack recipe – Batani Vada (Dry White Peas Fritters) along with a delicious Tomato Chutney. This is a perfect snack for kids and can also be offered as prasadam or nivedyam, as it contains no onion or garlic.
🌿 Ingredients:
For Batani Vada:
Dry White Peas (Batani) – 1 cup
Ginger – 2 to 3 inches
Salt – to taste
Oil – for deep frying
For Tomato Chutney:
Tomatoes – 6 to 7
Green Chilies – 4 to 5 (adjust to taste)
Tamarind – small piece
Coriander Leaves – a handful
Mint Leaves – a handful
Salt – to taste
Oil – 2 tbsp
Procedure:
1. Soak dry white peas in water overnight.
2. Next day, rinse and grind them with ginger and salt into a smooth paste.
3. Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
4. Shape the batter into small round vadas.
5. Fry the vadas on medium flame until golden and crispy.
6. For chutney, cook tomatoes, green chilies, tamarind, coriander, mint, and salt in a little oil.
7. Once cooked, cool the mixture and blend it into a fine chutney.
8. Serve hot Batani Vadas with the chutney.
9. You can decorate the plate creatively — like making a butterfly using tomato slices to attract kids!
