Before the cell phone camera and “selfie” became popular, Kodak was the king in the analog camera and photographic film markets for several decades. In the 1990s, it ignored the technological advancement and became a ‘no one’ very soon. Pepsi on the other hand suddenly changed the color of all vending machines in Southeast Asia from deep regal blue to light ice blue and quickly lost market share to competitors including Coca-Cola, as most people in Southeast Asia apparently associate the color light blue with death and mourning.
In this video, I am explaining why organizations need to look into external factor in order to make better business decisions. I am also connecting PESTEL analysis with it, a popular tool that organizations and consultants often use it and misuse it!
Entrepreneurs and managers prepare PESTEL analysis to assess the macro environment. It helps them visualize risks, identify threats, prepare for the future, and to make the most of opportunities.
