Both methods do not require a knot under the big toe.
PART 2: How to TIE
PART 3 shows another variation that does not have the cord between the toes.
Method 1 shown is mainly what I and my boy use.
Method 2 is similar to Chaco Z2 style (incorrectly call it Z1). This method works great for casual use. It does not work well for running or hiking as the cord rubs under the toe where the cords cross. This would likely be alleviated with a flat cord that slides.
Method 3: similar to Chaco Z1 with no toe cord or knot. See Part 3 of this sequence.
