WATCH: FBI gives details on fentanyl trafficking conspiracy takedown operation in Pierce County

A large group of “violent” drug traffickers have been indicted in Pierce County for allegedly bringing in fentanyl and other drugs into Washington state for distribution in local communities.

FBI Seattle, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and local law enforcement partners spoke at a press conference Tuesday about the bust made on what they called a “fentanyl trafficking conspiracy" that spanned multiple states.

The indictments are the result of an 18-month long investigation, including a two-month wiretap led by the FBI, which culminated in a takedown on Wednesday, Aug. 20, where law enforcement served 13 search warrants and arrested eight of nine people charged in an indictment for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller on Thursday.
