Reportage on the restoration and conservation of a piece of history of the First Empire, a dress and train very probably worn for the Coronation of Napoleon I at Notre Dame Cathedral by Madame Claudine Bérenger, (née Saussac (1773-1828), the wife of Jean Bérenger (1767-1850, Councillor of State, made Count in 1808). This exceptional ensemble, which has belonged to the descendants of Count Bérenger for over two centuries, is now on long-term loan to the Fondation Napoléon. The Fondation has had it restored by the textile conservator, Raphaëlle Déjean.
Discover the history of this outfit with Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach, historian, descendant of Count Bérenger and current owner of the dress and its train. Follow the key stages of the restoration with Raphaëlle Déjean (specialist in the restoration of antique textiles).
