Accessible Hearing with Your Inner Flo

Michael Leung, founder of The Flo Group, based in Calgary, Canada. He is on a mission to redefine how people experience sound—by providing an innovative, inclusive, and affordable alternative to traditional hearing aids. This mission is personal for him as he has been living with a disability the past decade called RP retinitis pigmentosa—a rare genetic condition that has severely impacted his peripheral and night vision and may continue to progress. There's no cure at the moment but he is confident they will eventually.


Michael has some really funny but embarrassing moments. He has faced numerous challenges his entire life from losing his mother at an early age, losing his faith and isolating myself from his family. Facing these challenges firsthand such as childhood trauma, discrimination, youth violence, alcoholism and near bankruptcy has fueled his passion and transformed him into who he is today.


Michael would love to share his journey, the technology he has built, and the meaningful partnerships he is forming to support aging populations and people with disabilities. Michael believes our story—and our mission—can inspire and spark important conversations around accessibility, innovation, and hope.
