A short timelapse video of Adelyn putting together a lego project. I learned speed ramping and a little bit of color correction. After the Tetris music, there are some quiet moments at home that I have included for my own enjoyment.
I initially was going to throw this together and upload it, but while listening to Spotify, it happened to play the Tetris theme, and I got the idea to set this video to exactly that. While looking for the audio, I came across a video where the tempo changed, like the game. Hence, I speed ramped the video according to the tempo of the music. There is a loose association between tempo and playback speed, as I was trying to get the Avatar reading break to match up with the song.
The "normal speed" in this video is about 20x normal speed and the fastest is about 70x normal speed. The "avatar" reading break in the video was an unplanned side quest that Adelyn embarked upon. It didn't fit my the song; I had about 15 minutes of video and she took a break somewhere after 5 minutes of video, while the break in the song is about half way through.. I wanted to use as much of the video as I could so I aggressively speed ramped post reading break, plus I edited the music to make it come together.
I also had the idea to add captions like in symphony sheet music to indicate tempo: fortissimo, mezzo-forte, forte, but the captions I added didn't have the right look to them, I didn't think many people would get the reference, there could be differences in wording between piano and string music, and I kind of just wanted to move on.
This video uses the Timewarp feature on the GoPro, and the quiet moments at home part used the "Epic" mode. Unfortunately, we were outdoors at Yosemite last week and I had set the max / min ISO to 100. Ouch. As a result, the final video was way way underexposed, so I had to color correct like crazy to pull any kind of watchable video out of it.
The other scene is too red, in my opinion, but I don't have the color correction skills nor patience to figure out how to get that right.
One problem with the video is that Adelyn places the completed pieces off screen. As a result, you see a lot of movement but don't get to see the progression of the build. This is disappointing, but with these guys you get what you get.
One last thing I could have done was to add a LUT to give it a "feel" but I'll wait for another video to do that. Perhaps one of my friends will lend me a drone so the video can live up to the "epic" GoPro settings. In all, I've spent about 8 hours processing the video over several days. I think the product is pretty decent.
