During World War II, some of the deadliest weapons didn’t look like weapons at all. One of the most shocking examples was the cane gun — a fully functional firearm disguised as an ordinary walking stick. Carried openly into cafés, government buildings, and enemy headquarters, this weapon allowed assassins and spies to kill at point-blank range and disappear without raising suspicion.
Developed and used by British Special Operations Executive (SOE) agents and resistance fighters across occupied Europe, the cane gun fired a hidden .22 caliber bullet through the tip of a walking cane. No holster. No visible trigger. No warning. To anyone watching, it was just an old man leaning on a stick — until it was too late.
