First of all, the seat occupancy recognition system registers whether the seat next to the driver is occupied. If this is the case, the touch surface of the display can be used from the front passenger seat. If the front
passenger seat is not occupied, the screen becomes a digital decorative feature. Customers can choose from various motifs, including a starry sky, i.e. the Mercedes-Benz pattern.During the journey, the front passenger can watch dynamic content such as a streamed video or TV on their
screen. To ensure that the driver is not distracted from what is happening on the road, a camera-based blocking concept prevents them from watching the film. A camera in the driver's display tracks the driver's
eyes and thus records their gaze. The intelligent system can distinguish whether the driver is looking at the front passenger screen or the
outside mirrors. This takes into account, for example, how the driver steers and how often and for how long they look over to the passenger side. If the driver looks over for longer than about two seconds, the front
passenger screen is dimmed so that the content is not visible.



DIGITAL LIGHT welcomes and says goodbye to the driver with a special light show. New features in the EQE SUV include the DIGITAL LIGHT Custom Animations1. In addition to Digital Rain and Brand World,
customers can change to further welcome and goodbye animations. Mercedes-Benz is successively extending this offering. Custom Animations will also include market-specific and seasonal animations, such as Thanksgiving in the US.The general and seasonal animations, stored in the back end, are selectable in the Mercedes me App. The vehicle then downloads the animation and transfers the software to the headlamp
control unit.
DIGITAL LIGHT has a light module with three extremely powerful LEDs in each headlamp, whose light is refracted and directed by 1.3 million micro-mirrors. The micro-mirrors occupy the area of a thumbnail. A
control unit with a powerful graphic processor uses an HDMI-like connection to generate a continuous video stream to the mirrors.
The beam, divided into 1.3 million pixels, makes absolutely precise light distribution possible. Highbeam Assist Plus is highly accurate when masking out oncoming traffic or traffic signs. The light-dark boundaries
and the light distribution of all other adaptive light functions are also displayed with significantly improved precision, which optimises illumination in fog, motorway or city light, for example. Based on data from the navigation maps, the topographic light takes driving up and down hills into account, especially crests and dips. These assistance functions are special features
