This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. TEDxUPatras is the first ever TEDx event in Patras - started in November 2014. Its main goal is to develop and share the TED experience at a regional level, uniting innovators, inspirational speakers, doers and makers. TEDxUPatras is curated by Magdalina Petsa and Iosif Lafazanidis and organized by a team of 40 volunteers.

When society has to lose some of its most valuable members, young people, for being held in prison, they are those who try to re-establish them on that society which put them in this position. One of those people is Petros Damianos, a teacher and headmaster at the high school which operates inside the Special Youth Detention Center of Avlonas and the chairman of the Greek Department of the European Union for Education (since its inception in 2007) and a volunteer with educational activities to institutions supervised by the Ministry of Justice (since 1994). As a true fighter of education, Petros Damianos presents the effort that young people do to re-establish on the society after prison and the education role on it.
