One Way Ticket - The Story of Greg Lutzka - Ending Video Part

Creating this video part was one of my favorite things to edit for the documentary One Way Ticket - The story of Greg Lutzka.
 
I grew up on skate videos as a kid and have created countless skateboard parts with friends over the years, but never have I had a chance to make something with a professional skateboarder, let alone it be his last video part with his last remaining skateboard clips, some that never have never been seen.
 
This meant a lot to creativity cut this video part and tie in an instrumental song that felt inspiring to end the documentary with.

My inspirations stem from videos I watched as a kid like Transworld’s (Modus Operandi, The Reason, Free Your Mind, In Bloom) and there’s that stylistic touch with the slow motion and b-roll incorporated in this that you can find similar familiarities, and how this influenced me in the editing approach.
 
I know this part meant a lot to Greg as well as it’s a turning of a page or closing the door to being able to perform at the top as a professional skateboarder and put out footage you feel where you are pushing the envelope or personally elevating your skateboarding. The difference is that Greg put that same passion into other endeavors to allow him to be a part of the skateboard world still, but not have to rely on it to pay his bills, or to feel relevant in the industry, he’s paved and created a path for himself to remain successful on or off the board, and that in itself is inspiring.
