Discover the lesser-known historical and religious treasures of Hooghly district, West Bengal! Join us as we explore three fascinating villages: Rajbalhat, Antpur, and Dwarhatta.

Our journey begins in Rajbalhat (approx. 60 km from Kolkata). We take you to the bustling Maa Rajballavi Temple, a centuries-old shrine (believed to be 16th century, built by Raja Rudranarayan Roy) housing the unique white idol of the goddess. Experience the devotion and witness the surrounding complex of aatchala Shiva temples. We even shared the 'Anna Bhog' with fellow devotees! Don't miss the recommendation to visit the nearby Sridhar Damodar Temple at Silpara and the local Tantghar (garment factories).

Next, we travel 6 km to Antpur, a haven for history and spirituality. Learn about the pivotal moment when Swami Vivekananda and eight other disciples of Ramakrishna Paramhansa took their vow of renunciation here, at the birthplace of Swami Premananda. We explore the serene Antpur Ramakrishna Math and the significant "Dhuni Mandap" memorial. Antpur also boasts stunning brick-built terracotta temples, most notably the RadhaGovinda Temple (built in 1786), showcasing a unique blend of Hindu and European artistic influences.

Finally, we head 6 km to Dwarhatta, renowned for its exquisite terracotta temples. We explore the Vishnu and three Shiv temples built by the Singha Rai Zamindar family, with a special focus on the Rajrajeswari-Shiva temple, adorned with intricate terracotta depictions from the Ramayana, mythology, and Radha-Krishna legends.
