In this video, I respond to a call from a homeowner who was finding multiple baby rattlesnakes on their property. When I arrived, I found a yard packed with thick rosemary, lantana, and other heavily watered plants — a perfect oasis for rattlesnakes here in the desert. The homeowner had heard that rosemary repels rattlesnakes (a common myth), so I take a moment to explain why that’s just not true, and how landscaping choices like this actually attract snakes.
It wasn’t an easy search. Rosemary and similar dense bushes are some of the hardest places to find rattlesnakes — they can sit just inches away and disappear completely. I made multiple trips back to the property to check for any rattlesnakes still hiding out.
Meanwhile, Marissa handles two separate calls for speckled rattlesnakes at different properties in the Phoenix area.
