The Problem with Nepotism

It has become sort of a theme these days for me be watching a tv show or movie or even hearing a song and wonder how they got that part, or how that song got on the radio. And sure enough when I inevitably look the performer up, I see their famous actor mom, or their high level exec dad or casting director aunt or brother who was a lawyer for the entertainment industry. And even if they did a great job, it is getting to feel like groundhog day every time I put on a film or TV show and find out multiple
people in the cast are products of nepotism, and there doesn't seem to be any slowing
down. So just why does it seem like there is this complete infiltration of nepotism babies taking
over the entertainment industry? It actually feels disproportionate to the amount of actors
we see now who didn’t come from industry family backgrounds. What effect is this having
on the entertainment industry itself, and how is it changing the way movies are being
produced, written, and perceived by the audience?
