When you're just starting out, I recommend using a Discover card. Please make sure you get a Social Security Number (SSN) card, which you can get once you have any form of employment, such as a Research Assistant (RA), Teaching Assistant (TA), or another campus job.

After that, you can consider other options like the Amex Blue, Chase, Capital One, U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, and other banks.

If you're interested in premium and ultra-premium options, consider the Amex Gold, Chase Sapphire, Capital One Venture X, and others.
