Here we have a video I got out of sheer luck... I was in Mentor to film the Dumpster Bandit ASL and WM happened to run all their stuff (they have the contract for the city itself) that day. This truck was coming down the road as I was pulling out. I decided to put around for a bit to see what else they ran as I had really been trying to find a Peterbilt and know Chardon used to run some ASL's, but didn't have any luck with that. Turns out talking to the driver they've went all Macks like these with the exception of a couple Autocars with the same setup except carry cans on yard waste. I decided to film this one because I had somewhat been wanting a video of one with the top tanks and full tailgate after filming one from Cleveland with the CNG tailgate earlier in the week and then spending all my time out there chasing a Pete. The timing actually worked out perfectly on this because he was packing out as I shot this. Wouldn't have minded getting a few more clips, especially of the WMX carts he had coming up, but at least I was able to get one. I knew that if I didn't shoot this I would regret it later on so I went ahead and got what I could. I got some pretty solid angles and the leaves being in peak color made for a really nice back drop.
This combo has really been the standard for both the WM Cleveland and Chardon shops since they went CNG It has been 7 years since I've filmed anything from WM, so I figured I was about due. While it's nothing out of the ordinary, it looks clean and gets the job done. Logan has several videos of these trucks as well and might even have footage of this one. I do miss the days where WM was all conventional front loaders with cart tippers, but obviously understand while they went curotto. Chardon was actually the first shop in the area to get Curottos in and has had them for probably 15 years now, much before Cleveland, Wooster, Toledo, etc. They actually had an original Curotto with the arm on the front at one point that I’ve seen video of.
For anyone looking forward to my future videos, I'm happy to report I did finally find the elusive Peterbilt in Twinsburg this Tuesday and got a really good video of it that will be posted in the coming weeks.
A big thanks to the driver for making this video possible!
