In 2019, the state of North Carolina announced plans to create its own Ending the HIV Epidemic (ETE) plan and significantly increase its efforts to end HIV in the state. With North Carolina’s ETE plan recent completion and release this year — what is next? How will the state of North Carolina differ in their approach following the creation of the ETE plan? How will current programs, like Medicaid, play into those efforts? During this plenary session, we will hear from NC Communicable Disease Branch staff and policy experts from the state on the details of the ETE plan — what is included, what is missing and the important role of community engagement — and will take the time to discuss what’s next for North Carolina’s path to address the HIV epidemic in the state.
