Same-Face-Itis | An Analysis of the Princess Phenotype in Character Design

in this video I go over the topic of why many women in character design end up having similar looking faces and personalities. An issue known as Same-Face-Itis. This is seen especially in lots of the women created by Blizzard and Disney. Many of the characters they create end up having the same facial features as well as similar physiques. This is because of societal beauty standards and expectations, and artists are aware of that. I cover all of the features needed for the face. I then cover the types of bodies and physiques needed as well. I then cover the reason why companies and artists make these design choices, by going over larger societal norms that are advertised and expected of women. And in the final section I compare and contrast different women from media, to show where artists choose to adhere or separate their designs from the Princess Phenotype.
