Feathered tsuru origami 2.0 (Riccardo Foschi)

I finally uploaded a tutorial for the feathered tsuru.
It took 8 years but here we are! 😅

I created this tutorial after discovering a more paper-efficient design that doesn’t alter the model’s final look. Instead of starting from a 3x1 rectangle like the original, this version uses a 2x1 rectangle, making it easier to fold with standard 35x35 cm kami paper or smaller. It’s a bit more challenging but results in a cleaner appearance and a more enjoyable folding experience—the key goal of my recent models.

For best results, use quality thin paper (kami, craft, tracing, backing), but feel free to experiment—you might be surprised how even thicker paper can be used without noticeable tearing or wrinkling.

Don’t get discouraged if it takes a few tries; I folded it over 30 times before the tutorial to perfect the folds. This model definitely requires practice! 😅
