This is a step into modal improvisation for you.
I chose a backing track from youtube and instantly started to work out.
This is Cmaj7/ Fmaj7/ Ebmaj7/ Abmaj7
I even did not get the Abmaj7 fully right on that moment which is 1 3 3 3 for example. But that's the great thing about improvisation: just do not care too much. More important than notes and scales are
feel the groove
feel the musical form (4 Bars for example like here)
find your own phrases and vocabulary, one Note, two notes, quarter notes, eight notes, what ever.
do not forget to enjoy and fool around, listen to what you play in relation to what is played from the backing track
