Samuel Wesley (1766-1836) was an English organist and composer, who was a contemporary of Mozart; indeed, he was known, by some, as "the English Mozart". He is part of the famous Wesley family, being the son of the hymn-writer Charles Wesley and nephew of John Wesley, who founded the Methodist Church. One of his sons was Samuel Sebastian Wesley, himself a famous organist and composer. This piece, written for manuals only, comes from the Kevin Mayhew publication "50 Victorian Pieces for Organ", which is widely available online including here:

This recording was made on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the fine Hill organ in the church of the Holy Name, opposite the University of Manchester on Oxford Road, Manchester. The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position.
