Clip Studio Paint Tutorial - Fantasy Character Illustration Workflow and Tips

My workflow for illustrating characters with backgrounds, entirely using Clip Studio Paint. Can be used to paint for tabletopRPG, board game, and card illustrations.

2:54 - Shortcut for dynamic zooming in and out
3:01 - Shortcut for rotating the canvas
3:22 - Use thick and thin lines to imply depth and volume
4:00 - Flip the canvas to check for errors
4:29 - Use bigger canvas size to preserve brush texture
4:40 - Use of Vector Layers
5:09 - Use Vector Erase Tool for faster cleanup
5:57 - Use Vector Line Tools for faster adjustments
6:52 - Control Vector Strokes using Ctrl key and tapping on the vector lines
8:45 - Fill Tool + Reference Layers makes creating flats a lot easier
9:20 - Use 'Paint Unfilled Areas' tool to clean up the flats easier
10:20 - Stay organized, keep layers in order, clean and fix errors you see as you go
11:15 - Easily create Clipping Folder group using Clip Studio Paint Macros
11:58 - Ctrl+Shift + tap on a part of the painting to select a layer
13:41 - Use Form Shadows to describe object volume/shape
14:21 - Use Cast Shadows along with form shadows for a more effective illustration
14:55 - 'C' hotkey turns the brush behavior of that of an eraser. Making it easy to block out shapes.
15:30 - Some areas will be occluded and have darker shadows.
17:44 - Use Layers to your advantage
19:03 - Create a black fill layer with 'Color' blending mode on top of your painting to check the values
21:30 - Use folders and clipping layers on top of folders to make sweeping paintovers
22:22 - Find and Use Brushes and Assets made by other people to help you with your illustration
23:24 - Use Correction Layers to make sweeping changes
25:00 - If necessary, create a master normal layer on top of your subject's layers to fully control all the visual aspects of the painting
32:45 - Always be open to learning new tools and ways to do things.
