Transcript:
#1
The Vrykul as we know them were actually made by the Titans, and their Iron Vrykul counterparts are artificial beings made by Loken. The Curse of Flesh affected several Vrykul 15 thousand years ago, resulting in the creation of the human race.
#2
In ancient times, the Vrykul formed a vast and prosperous civilization, spanning much of Northrend. Suddenly, without warning or explanation, the Vrykul race vanished, leaving behind only deserted villages and abandoned temples. Due to the encroachment of the Alliance on their lands, the Vrykul have recently returned, often in the service of the former Lich King.
#3
The Vrykul that serve the Lich King participate in a competition to decide which are worthy of serving him. The winners become members of the Ymirjar, while the losers are turned into undead and become Vargul. Unlike other undead though, the Vargul are self-aware and hate working alongside lesser undead such as skeletons or ghouls.
#4
Despite the many myths associated with them, the Kvaldir are nothing more than living Vrykul in costumes, and are capable of bleeding and dying like any other Vrykul. The Kvaldir typically reside deep in the ocean, where their corporeal forms would be crushed if it weren't for their mistweaving magics. When they die, these energies backlash, dissolving the Kvaldir into mist. All that remains are patches of sea growth and whatever loot they had on them.
#5
The Vrykul earn their titles based on their accomplishments. Destroying a Drakkari bloodline or decapitating taunka might earn you the title of "The Dutiful", while it will take a true act of depravity to be called "The Ruthless".
#6
It is possible that the Kvaldir are worshippers of Neptulon. Their conquest of Vashj'ir hindered the Naga in their attempt to overthrow the Tidehunter, and the Kvaldir also refer to Neptulon by name.
#7
It's a Vrykul tradition to make unlikely partners work together. While some say that it's to allow their divergent abilities to complement each other, others say it's merely for the amusement of King Ymiron.
