Designed to provide ventilation in the event of a gas leak while maintaining insulation and draught proofing under normal conditions. The product fits over the existing gas meter box with EWI being applied up to and around the outer edges. This saves a huge amount of time, cost, and inconvenience by not having to move the existing gas meter.

Every aspect of design has been considered towards taking the hassle out of dealing with gas meter boxes when retrofitting EWI. The product is delivered ready to fit as a fully insulated, ready-finished unit.

Insulation
The outer frame and door are packed with mineral wool insulation. Insulation is fitted during manufacturing and is packed to ensure there are no voids which could cause potential cold spots. This helps maintain consistency and assures concerns relating to the performance gap are addressed at the point of manufacturing.

Ventilation
Two gravity vents are fitted to the door, positioned at the top and bottom. Under normal conditions these remain closed the unique shape of the vent prevents it from blowing open from outside. In the event of a gas leak, the vents will open and prevent any build-up of gas. The size of the vents meets with the requirements of BS8499. Independent testing has been conducted to show that the vents react to positive pressures as low as 1 Pa.

Construction
The gas meter box is fabricated from Zintec steel which is primed and then powder-coated. The door can be hinged on either side and is easily removable to aid fitting.

The door is secured by twin tri-drive locks which are located at the top and bottom of the door to ensure even compression against the door seal. The door is fitted with an opening handle for convenience and is secured by a safety wire and clip to prevent overextending when opening. The door cill is gently profiled so in the event of water being driven into the small gap between the frame and the door it will drain away from the meter box.

Finish
Gas meter boxes are supplied powder-coated and need no onsite decoration. The standard finish is white RAL9016. Other Classic RAL colours are available.
