Most people live from the neck up.
They think their way through life, judge themselves relentlessly, and wonder why they feel disconnected, anxious, or exhausted. In this Dharma talk, we explore a deeper and more complete way of being human through the integration of your head, your heart, and your hara.
Your head holds thought, strategy, and story.
Your heart holds emotion, grief, joy, and love.
Your hara is your center of gravity, intuition, and deep inner knowing.
Through zazen and seated meditation, you learn how to move between these three centers with awareness rather than being dominated by any one of them. You discover how to rest in the hara when the mind becomes harsh or self-bullying. You learn how to feel emotion fully without being consumed by it. And you begin to trust the body as a source of wisdom rather than something to suppress or override.
This talk speaks directly to men and women who have lived from performance, intellect, and effort for decades and are ready to reawaken the parts of themselves that may have been dormant since childhood. It explores emotional fluidity, nervous system regulation, daily practice, and the courage required to feel what is real.
Meditation is not about shutting anything down.
It is about allowing the full human experience to move through you and returning again and again to a place of grounded presence.
This is the work of integration.
This is the work of leadership.
This is the work of coming home to yourself.
