A funeral for George Floyd took place in Houston, Texas on Tuesday at The Fountain of Praise Church, followed by a burial at the Houston Memorial Gardens cemetery in suburban Pearland.
Floyd, an unarmed Black man, died in police custody in Minneapolis, Minn. on Memorial Day after a white police officer was seen kneeling on his neck for several minutes in the now-infamous video which has spurred protests across the globe.
On Monday, a judge kept bail at US $1 million for a former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, charged with second-degree murder in Floyd’s death.
Floyd's death unleashed a surge of protests across the U.S. cities against racism and the systematic mistreatment of Black people.
