30 Knots 16-20ft Swell

Why wouldn’t we go for a downwinder!

it’s been crazy wet and stormy in Perth for so long - record rainfall and cold front after cold front smashing the coastline.

Today we had 30+ knot WSW winds with a forecast 7-10m Westerly swell. So when the conditions are like this, with minimal southerly fetch the only option is to go for a Mussel Farm Run across the Southern corner of Cockburn Sound, Rockingham WA.

It’s crazy how the GoPro doesn’t do the size of this swell coming through the bay at the start any justice!

Multiple sets came through that closed out the bay heading to the Causeway Bridge - something I’ve not seen before. I’ve been out there when it’s big, but today was bigger!

It was "hold on or die!" 😆
If I’d gone sideways the potential to have my canoe smashed on the bridge was extremely high!

What a ride!!

Shame the wind dies after that into the Sound - sorta was an anti-climax after that crazy ride under the bridge!
