God Bless the Child - Silla Mosley with Peter Yarde Martin, Johnny Cox & Joseph Malone - Live at St James, Piccadilly, 1st June, 2025.

Earlier this month, Pete, Joe and I played the opening set at an event called Soul at St James. It's an event that takes place monthly during the summer, held in the courtyard outside St James' church on Piccadilly in London.

The event is hosted by the Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir, who perform the main set, and this month, we performed a jazz trio set to open the afternoon. We featured various special guest vocalists in the form of singers from the choir.

Silla was our first guest on the afternoon, she's an absolutely incredible singer and she tore up this version of God Bless the Child. This was the first time we'd ever attempted this, and the first time we'd played it other than a brief run through before the set.

I've been performing with Silla for more than a decade in her band, Groove Republic, and she was the person who introduced me to the Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir, with whom I've been performing since 2019. So, I'm really thrilled to have this video now as a memento of our time performing together.
