The Ethan Allen Express is a daily passenger route operated by Amtrak, running from New York, NY to Burlington, VT. Due to a ban on diesel locomotives in the tunnels in the city of New York, the train operates with 2 GE P32-AC-DM locomotives. These units operate using an electric 3rd rail while in the tunnels, and switch to diesel when on non-electrified track. They can be identified by their unique Phase III heritage paint scheme. Here, we see the train arrive in Burlington, more than an hour late, which is unusual for the route, followed by passengers disembarking and the train returning to the yard for the night.
