So subscribers, here is the prize of our recent visit to South America. Our trip to Antarctica, which also took in the Falkland Islands and South Georgia, was one year in the planning and the booking. Easily the best trip we have ever done, and I think we have a lot to compare against. Come and see why we rate it … the best.
In Part 8 we start to immerse ourselves fully in the Antarctic region. And this video showcases three great activities.
Firstly, we visited tiny D’Hainaut Island in Mikkelsen Harbour and introduced ourselves to a colony of gentoo penguins. We saw chicks being fed by their parents – a truly awesome sight and experience.
Secondly, we did a one hour Zodiac cruise of nearby Curtiss Bay. It snowed on this cruise which really added to the mystic and aura of Antarctica. And we also got to see a Humpback whale, albeit at a distance.
Finally, the big event – the polar plunge into sub-zero waters! 83 of the 152 guests undertook this rite of passage, and the jump of yours truly is well and truly documented here. Enjoy!
