Restored footage from 1917 of 26th President of the United States Theodore Roosevelt talking to suffragist Vira Boarman Whitehouse at his home Sagamore Hill in Cove Neck, New York, United States during the opening of the second New York State suffrage campaign. Theodore Roosevelt supported women’s suffrage and in this footage is shown supporting and assisting in the campaigning for an amendment to the New York State Constitution to give women the right to vote. This amendment was successfully approved on the 6th November 1917, just under 3 years before the 19th Amendment was ratified, giving women in all of the United States the right to vote.
