The Government of India has officially declared the Parvati-Arga Bird Sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh as an Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ), reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. This decision aims to protect the fragile wetland ecosystem surrounding the sanctuary by regulating activities such as construction, industrial expansion, and unplanned tourism in its vicinity.
Announcing the move through a social media post, Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, stated that the Eco-Sensitive Zone status will help develop the area as a model of responsible ecotourism while ensuring long-term protection of its rich biodiversity. Spread across nearly 1,084 hectares, the sanctuary plays a crucial ecological role as a breeding and feeding ground for numerous resident bird species.
