Motorcycle Camping, North Rim Grand Canyon, Part Two (North Rim Vistas & Riding In Rain), Arizona

Cold night in the Kaibab Forest! Coming out of the triple digit heat, it didn't take much to freeze us..that coupled with our elevation (over 8000ft) of our camp. After warming up in the sun with some coffee we packed up the bikes and made our way to the North Rim Lodge and various viewpoints. The ride out to Point Imperial and Cape Royal was especially awesome, narrow winding road through the forest...could have rode that all day!
Finished with the viewpoints we stopped at a small general store for drinks and decided to ride the dirt back to Fredonia. This route is on Road 22 which is dirt for almost 30 miles until it switches back to asphalt after you get down and out of the forest. Road 22 takes you all the way back to Fredonia. Already interesting, our ride got even more so since we headed straight into a Thunderstorm! So, riding the dirt back turned into quite an adventure! Enjoying the challenge, we eventually got back to Fredonia a little chilled and wet but that didn't last long since the desert heat would dry us out quick!
A fantastic first motorcycle camping trip to a beautiful area! Can't wait for the next one!
