Vatican II (1962-1965) was indeed an important event — not because it was beautiful, but rather because it is ground zero for the decades-long crisis that has rocked the Church to her very foundations. Pope Leo’s catechesis series provides a golden opportunity to revisit some of the novelties, ambiguities, contradictions, and errors present in the Council documents — all of which remain at the root of the ongoing crisis in the Church.
