This hike begins and ends from the Dutchman Staging Area of AZ88 between mile markers 202 and 204. The trailhead is on the southeast end of the Goldfield Mountains.
The main attractions are the Cottonwood Spring and the Palo Verde Arch located on the Hat Top Hill.
Much of the hike will be on the Forest Road 1356, with some trails and a dry wash leading to the spring.
The hike out and back to the spring is about 5.5 miles. Hiking up and down Hat Top Hill would add 0.5 to 1.0 miles. Connecting back to the spring wash and FR1356 would add another mile. for a total of about 7.0 miles.
However, I managed to stretch it to 10 miles. The hike up to and down from the arch explain the extra miles.
It was quite an adventure!
Happy Trails!
