My cancer face journey continues as I ponder embracing my scarred face as it is, or try to cover it up. The 3rd part of this series highlights my attempts to cover the scars with makeup, and accepting that I'm just not going to to that everyday.
This journey began with being diagnosed with infiltrative basal cell carcinoma and having a mosh procedure to remove it. Then came the reconstructive surgery to make my face whole again. Looking back, that was the easy part. The real struggle was accepting that I would never look the way that I did before the cancer removal. The TikTok community helped me regain my self esteem, to a certain degree, and also taught me how to put on makeup.
