One of the most ironic songs ever written has to be John Denver’s “Leaving on A Jet Plane.” He released the song in 1966 and in 1997, he actually died in a plane crash. The song does contain some beautiful lyrics but since his death, it's hard not to think of it as eerie. However, Denver is not the only musician who died in a plane crash. Air travel has actually killed quite a few famous musicians in almost every decade. Is it just a coincidence or is there just something in the air? From R&B pioneers and princesses to rock legends and great songwriters, these are the musicians who were tragically killed in plane crashes.
