I am an armature cyclist/triathlete who took to the sport because I enjoy the travelling aspect of training and competition. I've been doing this for a few years now. My first Ironman was Zurich in 2016 and since then I've been taking my bike practically everywhere I go. I even took it to Ibiza once which is a beautiful place to cycle.
Anyhow, I thought even if I only do this vlogging for just one year, I should be able to capture some great footage. 2022 I did the full Ironman South Africa in Port Elisabeth and the full Ironman Italy in September and I have nothing to show for it in terms of footage. New year, new me.
This route has everything and going solo in this type of wind, 80km feels more like 120km.
Onto this 80KM Lanzarote cycle route - My Strava account is private, but it is easy to copy the route from the map which appears at the beginning of this video. The first time I went to Lanzarote I attempted to create a route just from the map and I'd included dirt tracks, of which there are many. This route there are none. Just perfect tarmacked roads.
My café stop was in Teguise. Now don't get Teguise and Costa Teguise mixed up. Costa Teguise (The Coast of Teguise) is where my Hotel was and Teguise is inland and is about an hours cycle from the coast. Here is a link to Jonnie Bakes

The petrol station was also in Teguise but you'll see plenty of places you can purchase bottles of water, to top up those bottles. On any windy but warm day, you have to remain mindful of water and electrolyte intake as the wind is drying you out as you cycle. Therefore you can forget how much you're perspiring.
It is a good 30 mins of climbing out of Teguise. The higher up you go there is no shelter from the wind. I enter Haria and then arrive at the summit. Then next it's the decent down Mirador Del Rio switch backs.
Now you're at the bottom again, it's another long drag up to Mirador del Rio at the very top of the island looking over the smaller islands just off the mainland of Lanzarote.
Then its mostly downhill back to Costa Teguise, with a handful of climbing. One of the climbs is a 15 to 20 minute climb, but considering the climbing done so far, you'll have no problems. The very last section is downhill and then flat into Costa Teguise.
I hope you enjoyed this video? This channel is about mixing my work, with my social/pleasure. Therefore you should see a mix of property renovations, property repairs, training, competing, holidaying and various other miscellaneous activities I may get up to.
