Gaining Back Our Freedom. - Michio Kushi’s Biological, Political And Spiritual Mandate For Health, Freedom, Happiness And World Peace - A Lecture By Michio Kushi, June 15, 1984 and recorded at the Eighth Annual Mid-Atlantic Macrobiotic Summer Camp in the Poconos in Pennsylvania and organized by the East West Foundation of Philadelphia. It is the opening lecture of the camp and was followed by “Freedom From Delusions” and “Rise Of The New Human Race” by Michio Kushi.

In this 1984 Lecture by Michio Kushi, “Gaining Back Our Freedom”, he outlines and summarizes his journey, thought processes and conclusions as to why he is and has been doing what he does in order to achieve world peace. At the start of the global AIDS crisis, Michio identifies two divergent futures for humanity. One future will eventually lead to humanity’s extinction and the other will lead to a globally civilization of health, happiness and peace. The key to preventing the former and achieving the later requires us gain back and fully exercise our most fundamental freedom, a freedom that is foundation for all other human rights and freedoms.

In a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment Michio predicts the rise of a totalitarian global dictatorship that will come after the Information Age, which empowers the individual through personal computers, as we may be starting to witness happening in the world today in 2025. There is an alternate future that could happen which would be guided by individuals who have gained back their freedom which has been the purpose and personal mandate of Michio’s through his many years of Macrobiotic educational efforts as the required medicine for all of humanity to avoid future enslavement and destruction of humankind and build a future world based on health, freedom, happiness and peace.
