The Balunkeswar Temple is situated along the banks of the Jira River, in the village of Gaisama. This village is located approximately 13 kilometers to the southeast of the Baragarh district in the state of Odisha. Balunkeswar Temple dates back to the Chauhan dynasty's rule over Odisha. Considered one of the Astha Sambhu, or eight Shiva temples, found in the Baragarh and Sambalpur districts, this ancient shrine venerates the Hindu god Shiva in the form of Balunkeswar Siva.
