In Part 2 Steph and I leave Chipmunk Creek Camp 5L3 and head out towards the South East Arm. We stopped and hiked to Alder Lake, a seldom seen lake a few hundred yards from Yellowstone Lake. We picked Raspberries, and continued on.
We stopped and looked at campsites 5L5, and 5L6, which were both in an old burn area, but 5L6 is a much nicer campsite.
As we came around between the South Arm and the South-east Arm the waves picked up and we had to Zig Zag across some big waves so they didn't hit us sideways and swamp our canoe. It was quite a ride.
we paddled a lot of miles on this day. when we got to the bottom of the South East Arm, near Mollys Island, the wind picked up, and forced our canoe to shore. Law requires us to stay 1/2 mile from the Island, which wouldn't let us get out far enough to zig zag the big waves. We ended up walking the canoe a few hundred feet down the beach, and then jumping in and going for a wild ride in 3 foot plus waves. Several times the canoe would be on 2 separate waves, and my paddle stroke would be in air. It was wild. We ended up at Camp 6A3, which despite the ants, was the best campsite we stayed at. We enjoyed the beautiful views from camp, and took a small hike to some lily pad ponds a half mile from our camp.

The next morning we headed out , stopping to check out the Trail Creek Patrol Cabin, and Campsite 6A4. In the Delta the water got so shallow we got out and walked in about a foot of water for quite a ways, pulling the canoe along. We ended up at Camp 5E2, Where we set up for the night. It was another chance to take a lake bath and clean our clothes. We sat on the beach and watched a distant thunderstorm and a beautiful sunset. and hiked a small section of the Thoroughfare Trail.
