Gesso, Isolation Coat and Varnish: How I Prepare and Finish a Painting

This is my process for the layers I apply to a wood panel before and after the painting layer. Before painting I use a clear or white Gesso to seal the panel and prepare it to accept the paint. After painting I use an Isolation Coat and then Varnish. I do 3 layers of Isolation Coat before using Matte Varnish because if the Varnish touches the painting I have found it to turn cloudy.
