Let's learn about poison dart frogs!
These tiny frogs are like living jewels, sporting bright colors like reds, blues, yellows, and greens. You'll find them hopping around the warm, wet rainforests of Central and South America. But don't be fooled by their beauty—their flashy colors are nature's way of saying, 'Watch out, I'm poisonous!'
Poison dart frogs are small, usually less than two and a half inches long, but they pack a punch! They get their poison from the ants and insects they eat, which have toxins from poisonous plants. The most toxic species, the Golden Poison Frog, has enough poison to harm humans!
What's really cool is their parenting style. Some poison dart frogs carry their tadpoles on their backs up into trees to find safe little pools of water. Talk about a piggyback ride!
But here's the sad part: these amazing creatures are facing threats like habitat loss and pollution. We need to protect their rainforest homes to keep them—and our planet—healthy.
