In December 2010, Joanna Yeates, a 25-year-old landscape architect, disappeared in Bristol, England after walking home from a social evening with colleagues.
She never arrived.
Joanna was last seen leaving a nearby pub on the evening of December 17, 2010, taking a familiar route back to her apartment. When she failed to return, concern quickly turned into a major police search. Days later, her body was discovered beside a river, just miles from where she was last seen.
The investigation that followed gripped the UK. Early media speculation caused widespread damage, and an innocent man was wrongly targeted in the press — a scandal that would later change how British media reports on criminal cases.
Eventually, forensic evidence led police to a suspect living in the same apartment building as Joanna. In 2011, he was convicted of her murder.
