I'm three days into this and I still can't believe I'm alive up here.
The catwalk is maybe four feet wide. That's it. Four feet of rusted metal grating that runs the length of the billboard, about forty feet from end to end, and I'm spending every hour of every day on this narrow strip of corroded steel suspended eighty feet above Interstate 94. The billboard itself—some ad for a personal injury lawyer that feels like a sick joke now—blocks the wind from the east, but that's about the only mercy I've got.
