Vexatious Light Worms & Where to Find Them: Getting Clearer, Cleaner Globular Clusters

Globular clusters are spherical, tightly bunched groups of stars that orbit galaxies. They are virtually free of dust and gas but photos often depict serpentine, hazy shapes within them. These "light worms" are artifacts that result from the stars being packed so densely they appear as a haze that is then misinterpreted and exacerbated by various sharpening and deconvolution tools, making the light worms worse. But since globular clusters are virtually free of dust and gas, they should appear clear and clean, yet an infestation of light worms can be hard to eradicate. No more!
