It all started with the desire to ride a bike freely. It turned into a dream to represent Iran at the Olympic Games.
Faranak had her eyes firmly set on the one and only qualifying race, the Asian Champs in India all year. Sadly things didn’t go to plan though. Faranak fell ill the day before the race, leaving her too weak to take to the start, - to fight for the ticket to Paris.
Sport is truly cruel at times.
Although this is a tough setback, Faranak has not given up her Olympic dream just yet. All her hopes are now on the IOC to award her for a so called universality place. Whether the IOC commission will allocate this “wild card” to Faranak, we will know at the end of May.
